BUYERS FEAST ON $21 MILLION OF SALES IN ACKER’S GRAND AUCTION FINALE OF 2021

More than 80 lots trade for over US$50,000

Acker realized US$21M in auction sales of the world’s finest and rarest wines just before the holidays, as the roaring and record-setting 2021 season came to a close. Three spectacular sessions in two cities were led by three amazing collections accounting for half the total sales, including The Lifelong Collection of Mr. Primeur, The Ultimate Treasure from a Prestigious Cellar, and The Collection of the Hidden Tiger. Domaine de la Romanee Conti, Domaine Leroy, and Chateau Petrus dominated the Top Lots, as buyers knew no bounds when it came to their bidding in this year-end bonanza.

The Top Ten Lots of the week were dominated by Red Burgundy, which prevailed with nine of the top ten positions. DRC took the top two spots, with three magnums of 1971 and twelve bottles of 1995 Romanee Conti selling for $269,884 and $244,181, respectively. Leroy came in at third place with six bottles of 2007 Musigny ringing in at $205,626. Henri Jayer joined the party in fourth and fifth place with twelve bottles of 1993 Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux garnering $192,774, and twelve bottles of 1999 fetching $179,923. Leroy was back in sixth place with $141,378 for twelve bottles of the 2009 Richebourg, while DRC returned in a seventh place tie with six bottles each of 2006 and 2007 Romanee Conti at $124,500. Ninth and tenth place was also a tie, with a case of 1982 Le Pin, the one Bordeaux on the list, and a case of the 2009 Leroy Romanee St. Vivant both collecting $122,090. The Top Ten Lots in Delaware were awarded exclusively to DRC and Petrus, with Petrus capturing an impressive nineteen of the top twenty-five lots, thanks to the Lifelong Collection of Mr. Primeur. Burgundy dominated the Top Ten Lots in Hong Kong, with Leroy, Jayer, and Rousseau joining DRC to command the top twenty-five, taking all but three of the Top 25 Lots. An impressive one-third of the week’s Top 25 Lots set New World Records.
