Historic Soldera Vertical
Thursday, October 3rd, 2019
Marea Restaurant
240 Central Park S
New York, NY 10019
Soldera’s flagship Case Basse estate was founded in 1972 and is famous for making the most awe-inspiring Brunello in Italy. Yields are restricted and green harvesting is employed to maximize ripeness, with a meticulous selection process at harvest that ensures only the ripest and heathiest grapes are vinified. Soldera ages his Brunellos for five or more years in large Slavonian oak tanks and vats, similar to other traditional producers like Roberto Conterno or Bruno Giacosa who also pre-age their wines before release. Soldera’s cult status and limited production make his wines some of the rarest and most sought after in Italy; special wines coveted by collectors and connoisseur’s alike. Gianfranco Soldera passed away on February 16th of this year. This historic vertical will be a fitting tribute to one of Italy’s most iconic personalities.

Guigal Cote Rotie La La Dinner
Wednesday, November 20th, 2019
Vaucluse
100 E 63rd St
New York, NY 10065
For our first installment of a series of three La La dinners, we will focus on La Turque. The La Turque vineyard is 2.5 acres in the Côte Brune on a beautifully exposed slope that enjoys perfect southern exposure from the first rays of sunlight in the morning all the way until dusk. This vineyard is planted with 93% Syrah and 7% Viognier on silicone limestone and schist which produces clay soils rich in iron oxide. The first vintage appeared in 1985. The wine is punched down and alcoholic fermentation and maceration last around 4 weeks, after which it is aged for 42 months in new oak barrels made at the Chateau d’Ampuis cooperage. The complex soils lend an exotic character to La Turque, and its concentration and elegance exhibit the power of the Côte Brune with the subtlety and finesse of the Côte Blonde. La Turque represents a synthesis in style between La Landonne and La Mouline. It has the concentration of La Landonne with the aromatic complexity of La Mouline.
Wines will include a complete vertical of La Turque from 1985 to 2014.
