René Rostaing Retrospective Tasting
Thursday, February 27th, 2020
Michelangelo Hotel
152 W 51st St, New York, NY 10019
René Rostaing is now considered one of the shining stars of Côte Rôtie. The key to his success is his ability to innovate, as he combines the traditional techniques taught to him by his father-in-law, Albert Dervieux, with modern oenological technologies. His wines are beautifully pure and balanced with an intense focus on terroir. Now one of the greatest estates of the Northern Rhône, René continues the legacy of Albert Dervieux and his legendary uncle Marius Gentaz-Dervieux, producing some of the most awe-inspiring wines of the Côte Rôtie. This is an outstanding retrospective of one of the most important Domaines in the Rhone Valley.
Wines include: 1978, 1983, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2001, 2003, 2005 Cote-Rotie La Landonne; 1990, 1991, 1995, 1996, 1999, 2005 Cote-Rotie Cote Blonde.
Jacky Truchot Burgundy Dinner
Tuesday, March 3rd, 2020
Crown Shy
70 Pine St, New York, NY 10005
The wines of Jacky Truchot  are delicate, graceful, elegant, and made to age. For years Truchot made wine in a style that has virtually disappeared from Burgundy.  There are many producers that consider themselves traditionalists, but often, these same names in fact use some aspect of modern technology— which was never the case for Monsieur Truchot. For many years, his wines were essentially unheard of, never exported out of France, and wholly ignored by critics. It often took a good decade in bottle for these wines to show their genius.
Jacky retired in 2005, never swaying from his fiercely traditional roots. Finally, once retired, not only did people realize the brilliance of his wines, but collectors went crazy trying to find them. Prices went through the roof and the wines went from almost unknown to a cult obsession. Today, these are some of the rarest wines from Burgundy and, like the wines of Henri Jayer and Marius Gentaz of the Rhône, will shortly be gone forever. Seating will be extremely limited, and we expect great interest so please reserve quickly. All wines come from the cellars of two private collectors who purchased them upon release.
Wines include: 1991, 1995, 1996, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2005 Clos de la Roche Vielles Vignes; 2005 1999, 1991, 1990 Charmes Chambertin Vielles Vignes; 2002, 2004, 2005 Gevrey Chambertin Aux Combottes, Vielles Vignes; 2004 and 2005 Chambolle Musigny Les Sentiers
Bruno Giacosa Dinner
Tuesday, March 10th, 2020
Il Buco
47 Bond Street, New York, NY 10012
Bruno Giacosa is the benchmark estate for traditional Barolo and Barbaresco. Collectors cannot seem to get enough of these wines. Prices remain reasonable in the context of what other blue-chip collectible fine wines cost, especially in comparison to Grand Cru Burgundy and First Growth Bordeaux. The Bruno Giacosa estate has consistently made awe-inspiring wines of the highest level that can age effortlessly for decades. The Barolos and the Barbarescos from Giacosa are the reference standard of the region.
Wines include: 1989, 1990 Giacosa Barolo Rionda Riserva; 1996, 1990, 1989, 1986, 1985 Barolo Falletto Riserva; 1998, 1990, 1989, 1988, 1985 Barbaresco Santo Stefano Riserva; 2011 Barbaresco Asili Riserva; 1996 Barbaresco Asili Riserva; and 2001 Barbaresco Rabaja Riserva.
Domaine Tempier Dinner
Wednesday, March 18th, 2020
94 Chambers St, New York, NY 10007
Just outside of the Mediterranean port of Bandol, Domaine Tempier has been a stalwart in the Kermit Lynch portfolio for over 40 years. Lulu and her husband Lucien Peyraud were gifted the Domaine, at the time an active farm, upon their marriage and then sought to establish Bandol as its own A.O.C.. They discovered that Mourvèdre was the most appropriate varietal for the region and, with the help of gastronomes Richard Olney and Alice Waters, solidified Bandol as a region renowned for Provençal cuisine—not just rosé! The various cuvées of Domaine Tempier express the differences in the terroir of the area. La Migoua is the highest elevation parcel with the lowest amount of Mourvèdre in the blend. Cabassaou is situated lower on the hillside, sheltered from the intense Mistral winds, attaining the greatest ripeness for the Mourvèdre-heavy blend. La Tourtine sits above Cabassaou, on rich, clay soil, producing powerfully tannic and richly fruited wines. These are wines that crave food and we look forward to enjoying them at one of our favorite restaurants, Racines.
Wines include: 2001, 2000, 1998, 1997, 1995, 1989, 1988 La Cabassaou, Cuvee Speciale; 2001, 2000, 1998, 1990, 1988 La Migoua, Cuvee Speciale; 2001, 1999, 1998, 1990, 1989, 1988 La Tourtine, Cuvee Speciale; and La Loufee, Cuvee Special.
Spotlight on Graves & Pessac-Léoganan: Bordeaux Blind Tasting
Thursday, March 26th, 2020
Michelangelo Hotel
152 W 51st St, New York, NY 10019
In 1785, Thomas Jefferson called the wines of Graves among the best in all the world. It was the first region in Bordeaux where wines were produced and exported with barrels of wine being shipped to England as far back as 1152. Haut-Brion traces its history back to the 1600s, long before any of the First Growths of the Medoc were mentioned. Graves, which includes the appellation Pessac-Léognan (created in 1987), gets its name from the gravelly soils underneath the region, which were created by ice age glaciers. It is famous for producing both reds and whites (the best of which can even rival top-tier white Burgundy). This intensive terroir-focused event will increase your appreciation of one of the finest regions in Bordeaux.
Wines include: 2000 Haut Brion; 2000 La Mission Haut-Brion; 1990 La Tour Haut Brion; 2000 Les Charmes Haut-Brion; 2005 Bahans Haut-Brion; 2009 Haut Brion Blanc; 2008 Laville Haut Brion Blanc; 2000 Pape Clement; 2009 Pape Clement Blanc; 2010 Haut Bailly; 2010 Branon; Domaine de Chevalier Blanc; 2005 de Fieuzal; 2015 de Fieuzal Blanc; and 2007 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc.
Guigal Cote Rotie La La Part 2
Saturday, March 28th, 2020 - 12:00PM
Per Se
10 Columbus Cir, New York, NY 10019
Following an astounding, full vertical of La Turque that we did last season, our next installment will be La Landonne. Along with La Mouline and La Turque, La Landonne is one of the three great wines from Guigal’s Côte Rôtie holdings. La Landonne was introduced in 1978 from vines in the Côte Brune hillside (La Mouline is from Côte Blonde, first released in 1966). This is an amazingly rich wine with deep color, incredible concentration, and exotic smoke. There is no other Côte Rôtie that can match the raw power of La Landonne. If you are an aficionado of the Northern Rhône, you will not want to miss this historic vertical going back to the very first vintage.
We will have every vintage from 1978 to 2014.
Cécile Tremblay Dinner
Thursday, April 2nd, 2020
126 W 18th St, New York, NY 10011
The Tremblay family inherited their vines from Edouard Jayer, uncle of the great Henri Jayer. In 2003, Edouard’s great-granddaughter, Cécile Tremblay took over the Domaine, moving over to organic certification and biodynamic practices, while employing partial, whole-cluster fermentation. Her Vosne-Romanée, Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle wines are quickly becoming some of the most coveted, cult wines in Burgundy. The prices are already starting to climb but it’s still considered an “insider's" Domaine. The wines are incredible with a beautiful expression of terroir— Burgundy for the true aficionado. Join us at one of our favorite, new restaurants for what is sure to be a most memorable evening.
Wines include: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 Du Dessus Echezeaux; 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011 Chapelle Chambertin; 2008, 2009 Chambolle Musigny Les Feusselottes; and 2008, 2009 Vosne Romanee Beaux Monts.
Château Mouton Rothschild Vertical Dinner
Tuesday, April 7th, 2020
1 Central Park West, New York, NY 10023
Join us for an extraordinary dinner featuring an incredible vertical of Château Mouton Rothschild. This Château is one of the most famous wineries ever to exist, having made legendary wines for centuries. The high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and its perfectly situated, gravelly soil make for a wine that is incredibly exotic, opulent, full of flavor, long lasting, and completely intoxicating. Mouton's greatness is credited to one of the most remarkable men of Bordeaux, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, who helped rewrite the rules for all those around him. He inherited this small plot as a youth, and, under his leadership, the wines have evolved to make this one of the world's top estates. Through his efforts, the Château was officially promoted to First Growth status in 1973, which has been the only change ever from the initial 1855 classification. Don't miss this remarkable modern tasting of one of the world's most important wines!
Vintages include: 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Aged Rioja Part 2 with Bob Cunningham
Thursday, April 23rd, 2020
Michelangelo Hotel
152 W 51st St, New York, NY 10019
Located in northern Spain, Rioja is the country’s most famous region. The long growing season allows the grapes to mature slowly while retaining a great deal of acidity. This results in intensely flavored, complex wines with moderate alcohol, making for the ideal balance for aging. Rioja is divided into three zones: the cooler Alta and Alavesa to the west and the warmer Baja to the south. Tempranillo is the favored grape but additions of Garnacha for opulence, Mazuelo for acidity, and Graciano for aromatic complexity all combine to make for world-class wines. Bob Cunningham, long time wine educator, will be on hand to enhance our enjoyment of these perfectly mature, Spanish beauties.
The wines include: 1934 Lopez de Heredia Tondonia Gran Reserva; 1964 Lopez de Heredia Bosconia Gran Reserva; 1964 CVNE Vina Real Réserva Especial; 1981 CVNE Vina Real Gran Réserva; 1981 CVNE Imperial Réserva; 1959 Marques de Murrietta Castillo Y’Gay Réserva; 1964 Marques de Murrietta Castillo Y’Gay Gran Réserva; 1975 La Rioja Alta 890 Gran Réserva; 1952 Marques de Riscal Réserva; 1952 Berberana Gran Réserva; 1964 Berberana Réserva; 1966 Berberana Carta de Oro; 1970 Berberana Carta de Plata; 1981 Montecillo Vina Monty Gran Réserva and 1982 Riojanas Monte Real Réserva.

Even in lesser vintages, Christophe Roumier makes superb wines. Tuesday, May 19th, 2020
Michelangelo Hotel
152 W 51st St, New York, NY 10019
2000 Bordeaux has turned out to be one of the most exciting vintages of our time and the quality has managed to live up to, if not exceed the tremendous hype. The vintage produced stunning and age-worthy wines from every appellation in the region. 2000 was a particular triumph for the Merlot and Cabernet Franc of St. Émilion and Pomerol. The wines are explosive, rich, and fleshy, displaying all the ripeness of the vintage. The accompanying acidity, crispness, and pitch make 2000 one of the greatest vintages Bordeaux has ever seen. This blind comparison will be a fascinating exercise for your palate.
Wines include: Lafleur; Ausone; Chevel Blanc; Angelus; Pavie; La Mondotte; Trotanoy; L'Eglise-Clinet; L'Evangile; Hosanna; La Tertre-Roteboeuf; Vieux Chateau Certain; Clos l'Eglise; La Conseillante; La Fleur de Gay; and Troplong Mondot.

Dominus Estate Vertical Tasting
Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020
Michelangelo Hotel
152 W 51st St, New York, NY 10019
The core of the wines of Dominus comes from the fruit of the famed Napanook Vineyard— the base of so many historic Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignons of the 1950s and 1960s. Upon visiting, Christian Moueix recognized that the gravelly loam was exceptional for Cabernet, but nothing like the soil at Pétrus where heavy clay suits Merlot. The wine is aged in one third new oak, in addition to used barrels from Pétrus, Cheval Blanc, and Trotanoy. 1983 was the first vintage of the estate, made entirely from Napanook grapes. 1991 was the breakthrough vintage that put Dominus on the map as a world class wine and, along with 1994, is considered to be one of their finest vintages. Dominus is arguably the greatest Bordelaise wine in Napa Valley— it has massive richness and structure that is all California, balanced by complexity and finesse, just like a great Bordeaux. Join us for this impressive vertical of Dominus going back to their first vintage.
Vintages include: 1983; 1985; 1986; 1987; 1988; 1989; 1990; 1991; 1994; 1996; 1997; 2000; 2003; 2004; 2005; 2006; 2007; 2010 and 2012.
Raveneau Chablis Tasting
Wednesday, June 10th, 2020
Michelangelo Hotel
152 W 51st St, New York, NY 10019
Domaine François Raveneau makes pure, age-worthy, terroir-driven wines that are capable of matching, or even topping, the best sites of the Côte de Beaune in complexity, texture, and longevity. Raveneau is still considered the greatest Domaine in Chablis but the wines continue to become harder and harder to find. This is classic, mineral-rich, and racy Chablis from the region's greatest Domaine. Harvesting is done manually, and picking is generally done early in order to retain natural acidity and freshness. The juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks then matured for 18 months in large, oak feuilletes with an average age of 7-8 years before bottling. This retrospective tasting of one of Burgundy’s great Domaines will be an opportunity that you won’t want to miss!
Wines include: 1992, 1993, 1996 les Clos; 2011, 2012, 2015 Butteaux; 2004, 2006 Valmur; 1990, 2012 Vaillons; 2000, 2014, 2015 Montee Tonnerre; and 2014 Foret.
1990 Vintage Dinner
Tuesday, June 16th, 2020
Legacy Records
517 W 38th St, New York, NY 10018
1990 is widely considered one of the best and most consistent vintages in every major wine region on the globe. Bordeaux experienced one of its greatest vintages of the 20th century and, for Burgundy, it is a classic vin de garde. Rhône is a triumph in both the Northern and Southern parts of the valley, while Piedmont enjoyed its best vintage since 1978. It was a blessing indeed, that every region did marvelously well in 1990. The wines were ripe, flavorful, and aromatic early on yet they also have the structure and complexity that marks a long-lived, world-class vintage. Join us for a fun and delicious evening celebrating this outstanding vintage.
Wines include; Rousseau Chambertin; Leroy Clos Vougeot; H. Lignier Clos de la Roche; Mugnier Chambolle Musigny Amoureuses; Lafite Rothschild; Margaux; Cheval Blanc; Montrose; Chave Hermitage; Guigal Cote Rotie La Mouline; Clape Cornas; Giacosa Barbaresco Santo Stefano Riserva; Vega Sicilia Unico; and Ridge Monte Bello.
