The Scharzhofberger Spätlese that we tasted was also absolutely superb on both the nose and palate. The bouquet offers up a cool and classy constellation of apple,. pear, lime zest, a gorgeous base of slate and a potpourri of very gentle floral tones in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and feline in personality, with a fine core, ripe, seamless acids and stunning focus and grip on the poised, pure and perfectly balanced finish. This wine is very, very long and still quite primary and in need of a bit of cellaring to really blossom. 2023- 2050+.
