Véronique Drouhin of Maison Joseph Drouhin & Jean-Nicolas Méo of Domaine Méo-Camuzet
tuesday february 2nd | 12:30pm ET | Zoom
Though many consider Burgundy to be a large, complex web of producers and vineyards, in reality, the denizens of the Côte d’Or interact like those living in a small town. Véronique Drouhin, head winemaker of Maison Joseph Drouhin, and Jean-Nicolas Méo, of Domaine Méo-Camuzet, have been friends for years, with their relationship solidified by their love of Vosne Romanée, home of the majority of Méo’s vines and also where Véronique personally owns the choice, premier cru parcel of Les Petits Monts.
Both individuals come from historic families, Jean-Nicolas’ father, Jean, served as a member of Charles de Gaulle’s cabinet and Véronique represents the fourth generation of the Domaine and négociant business built by Joseph Drouhin in 1880, where the first vineyard the family purchased in 1918 was the renowned Beaune Clos des Mouches, a special cuvée of which we’ve included in this tasting that was made with the press that dates back to 1561 located in the Notre Dame cellar in Beaune. With vineyards spread across the Côte d’Or, this pair is unduly qualified to speak to the complete picture of Burgundy in the outstanding vintages of 2005 and 2017. It is a delight to be joined by Véronique and Jean-Nicolas for our kickoff event!
