2002 Red Burgundy Blind Tasting
New York, NY 10001
A favorite of Burgundy aficionados, 2002 produced balanced wines with ripe fruit, supple texture, forward charm and enough acidity and tannin to age well. At twenty years on they are just hitting their peak drinkability and should hold for years to come. A dry fall gave way to a cold and dry winter followed by a warmer February, which helped avoid any frost damage. By the middle of August conditions were perfect and the harvest produced stylish wines with pure fruit, medium body, ripe tannins, and balanced acidity. The wines have a touch more elegance compared to the more muscular 1999’s. Join us we taste benchmark examples from this thrilling vintage.
