AN INCREDIBLE OFFERING DIRECT FROM THE CELLARS OF DOMAINE JEAN-LOUIS CHAVE
It is our great pleasure to welcome another direct consignment from the greatest producer in the Rhone Valley, and the greatest producer of Syrah in the world: Domaine Jean-Louis Chave! Domaine Jean-Louis Chave, at more than five centuries old, is one of the finest and oldest Domaines in the world. Living for and from the vines since the 15th Century, the Chave family is the essence of tradition in Hermitage. After an MBA studying oenology at the University of California-Davis, Jean-Louis Chave joined the Domaine in 1992, taking over gradually from his father while simultaneously elevating the Domaine to new heights. Jean- Louis is now the 16th generation of Chave!
In Lots 539-572 we are privileged to offer, direct from the Domaine’s cellar, a spectacular collection of Hermitage Rouge and Blanc, Cuvée Cathelin, Vin de Paille, and St. Joseph. Original wood three-packs of Hermitage Rouge are available in several memorable vintages: 1982, 1983, 1988, 1990 and 1991, as well as a lone bottle of the legendary 1978. This phenomenal offer also includes large formats of Hermitage Rouge, as well as St. Joseph Clos Florentin and Hermitage Blanc, and half bottles of the extremely rare Chave dessert wine, Hermitage Vin de Paille. In 1990, the Chaves started making tiny amounts of the Cuvée Cathelin, which has become an iconic wine produced only in the most exceptional years. We are honored to present a vertical of every vintage ever released of Cuvée Cathelin: 1990, 1991, 1995, 1998, 2000, 2003, 2009 and 2010. There are extremely rare large formats that were never commercially released headlined by a mighty Methuselah of 1995 and a Jeroboam of 2009 plus more!! It is an honor to present to you again, wines direct from the King of the Hill of Hermitage, Jean-Louis Chave!!!

A Lifetime Collection of Spectacular Bordeaux
Spectacular Bordeaux Spanning Decades of a Lifetime Collection is the largest collection in this extraordinary January Hong Kong sale, offering nearly two hundred selections of entirely Bordeaux from a very successful European businessman with a decades-long passion for proper claret! This lifetime achievement, Lots 631-821, focuses on Le Pin, Petrus, and the First Growths, of course! There are eleven lots of Ausone highlighted by magnums of every vintage from 1994 to 1999, fifteen selections of Cheval Blanc crowned by double magnums of 2005, 2006 and 2009, and a dozen lots of Haut Brion touching on major vintages such as 1982, 1985, and 1996. Lafite dials back the clock with eighteen selections going back to a double magnum of 1959 (gorgeous!!!!), and Latour also goes back to 1959 with a full case of 1982 as well as a late release double magnum of the 2000 vintage among its fifteen lots!!
It is rare to find Le Pin in quantity especially in large formats but among seventeen selections of Le Pin we have singular magnums of 1988 and 1989 as well as six-magnum cases from various vintages, and double magnums to boot!! Large formats continue to thunder in with Margaux and Mouton, and then Petrus takes center stage with three dozen splendid selections going back to the legendary 1970, 1971 and 1975 vintages followed by an Imperial of 1978! There are full cases in bottle of the standout 1982 and 1990 vintages as well as magnum cases of every vintage from 1993 to 1999, a double magnum of 2000, and an impressive imperial of 2005!!! There are many notable chateaux represented here across the spectrum of outstanding vintages including Angelus, Cos, Gruaud Larose, La Mission, Lafleur, Leoville Barton and Pichon Lalande. This is an incredible collection, built in Europe and never moved until now! Picture perfect!!!

The Best of Burgundy with Appearances from 2009 Bordeaux and Ravishing Riesling is our fabulous feature in Lots 329-482. This passionate collector never intended to sell his wines, but he is moving overseas and has decided it would be a bit easier to sell his collection and start over rather than move it all. Consequently, we have quality and quantity here with over one hundred fifty lots!
Stunning Red Burgundy includes a dozen lots of Armand Rousseau, accompanied by Vogue and of course DRC chimes in. Eleven selections of highly sought-after Domaine Bizot are counterpointed by ten lots of the hot to trot Prieure-Roch! There are a dozen lovely lots of Leroy, three vintages each Rouget and Meo-Camuzet Cros Parantoux, and multi-case parcels of Jean-Marie Fourrier. The splendid 2010 vintage takes a solid stand with Roumier Bonnes Mares, Grivot Richebourg and Mugnier Musigny, thank you so much! Winning White Burgundy features Bouchard and thirteen selections of Coche-Dury, as well as Lafon and Leflaive, Ramonet and Roulot!
