New York City, NY – October 15th, 2018 – Turbulence in many of the world’s financial markets failed to deter collectors of the world’s finest wines at Acker Merrall & Condit’s “Friday Night Lights” auction in New York City this past weekend. With over 130 New World Records set and almost US$5 million in auction sales, the only uncertainty was who would deliver the final and highest bid for each lot. The sale brought Acker Merrall’s Fall auction sales total to over $20 Million in the past six weeks, and over $80 Million year to date. The remarkable “Everest Collection” headlines over 1000 lots being offered next in Hong Kong on November 3rd 2018. The Everest Collection is the cellar of a passionate collector of over twenty-five years, whose personal drive as one of the world’s greatest wine collectors is matched by the drive and stamina that enabled him to climb Mount Everest itself! The world’s greatest collectors continue to choose Acker Merrall.

The Top Ten Lots in Acker’s “Friday Night Lights” auction reflected the strong demand for the world’s greatest producers. In the number one position was a very rare lot of six magnums of 1980 Rousseau Chambertin from a European collector that sold for $86,800 and also set a New World Record price. An equally rare methuselah in banded OWC of 2006 DRC La Tache followed at $39,680 (also a New World Record), a price matched by twelve bottles of 1999 Rousseau Chambertin Clos de Beze. Rousseau continued its Friday night roll with eight bottles of 1999 Rousseau Chambertin in the number four position selling for $29,760, with six bottles of the great 1978 Bruno Giacosa Collina Rionda Riserva matching that price. A strong day for Dujac was led by three OWC magnums of 2010 Dujac Chambertin bought for $27,280, and Bordeaux joined the Top Ten thanks to ten bottles of the famed 1982 Chateau Lafite Rothschild at the same price. Bordeaux continued its 2018 momentum with twelve bottles of 2014 Chateau Petrus in banded OWC’s selling for $24,800. Dujac nailed down the final two spots in the Top Ten via six magnums in OWC of 2013 Dujac Chambertin and three magnums in OWC of the 2015 Dujac Chambertin also in OWC both being purchased for $24,800, and both lots setting New World Records.

Acker Merrall set another 134 New World Records Friday night in New York City, continuing to lead the world markets in 2018. Dujac was the star of the night with seventeen New World Records set, while the superb wines of Maison Joseph Drouhin, from vintages as wide ranging as 1993-2016 set eleven New World Records. Rousseau’s strength in the Top Ten Lots was duplicated via eight New World Records. The world’s most important producer, Domaine de la Romanee Conti, set seven New World Records, and seven was also the magic number for Bruno Giacosa. Other notables included the Domaine du Comte Liger-Belair setting six records, and Roumier five. Reflecting the diversity of records set yet, Chave, Rayas, Pegau and Allemand from the Northern and Southern Rhone established new records, led by four for Chateau Rayas..
