Pale gold. Ripe citrus and orchard fruit aromas are lifted by chalky minerals and white flowers. On the palate, pliant orange and pear flavors are underscored by a gingery nuance and a hint of bitter lemon zest. Fleshes out on the sappy finish, which hangs on with strong smoky persistence. (JR)

An intense wine that reveals its floral and rich character slowly. It is showing only a slight sign of maturity, and more noticeable are its flavors of crisp apple and citrus, along with bright, tight acidity. It could age well for several more years. (RV)

This elegant wine shows beautiful precision to the texture, with harmonious notes of lemon blossom, patisserie apple, vanilla-tinged brioche and savory mineral. Lovely for its subtlety and overall grace. Drink now through 2025. (AN)

The 2002 Brut Blanc de Blancs Cuvee Belle Epoque is a striking Champagne endowed with considerable power and richness in its exuberant fruit. The wine blossoms on the plate with tons of richness and a broad, expansive voice to the fruit that is quite beautiful. A long, creamy finish layered with tropical fruit rounds things out nicely. This is easily one of the most memorable Champagnes I have tasted from Perrier-Jouet in some time. (AG)

Beautiful oily concentration, but also an elusive style that not everyone will like at the moment. Meaty tones mixed with petroleum, citrus and meringue. Leave for a few years and enjoy the upcoming harmony. I thought it was magical. (RJ)
