Wow, tremendous class. Toasted oak notes, long and linear, aristocratic and well built - a castle of a wine.

Medium red. A real essence of sangiovese on the nose: sour cherry, flowers, marzipan and a whiff of orange peel. Wonderfully lush and seamless, with an almost liqueur-like sweetness that does not go roasted. This medium-to-full wine boasts a velvety texture today but really needs time in bottle to show off its inherent complexity. Finishes with a broad dusting of tannins. This powerful, classy Brunello stayed fresh for 48 hours in the recorked bottle.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino is an explosive, structured wine bursting with dark fruit. It is one of the most inward, brooding wines of the vintage. Black cherries, menthol, spices and new leather are some of the nuances that flow as this expansive Brunello literally covers every inch of the palate. This is a totally mesmerizing, sublime wine of the highest level. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031. This is another set of stunning wines from Poggio di Sotto and proprietor Piero Palmucci.

This is a direct and pungent Brunello with an intense, vertical lift and a steady delivery of fruit, spice and smoke aromas. It opens with dried raspberry, cassis, clove and pipe tobacco followed by fine tannins and persistency.
