2017 Ramonet Chassagne Montrachet Abbaye de Morgeot 750ml

2017 Ramonet Chassagne Montrachet Abbaye De Morgeot 750ml

Domaine Ramonet consists of 17 hectares of vineyards located throughout the vineyards of Montrachet; but what the estate is known for are its superlative quality Chassagne-Montrachets, for which Andre Ramonet garnered the title “King of Chassagne-Montrachet”. His Premier Crus are like manna from the gods, and this we see in the 2017 Abbaye de Morgeot 1er Cru.

This sun-kissed vintage bears a rich, fuller-bodied wine with vivid aromas of baked pear, toasted nuts, acacia, and white flowers. This symphony of aromas continues on the medium-to-full-bodied palate, which maintains the density but also that delightful Ramonet structure that shows the sleight of hand from an incredible producer. Bitter lemon and mineral with a touch of toast on the finish render this rich and delightful wine a terrific white to celebrate the holidays and toast the New Year!

2013 Arnoux-Lachaux Nuits St Georges 750ml

2013 Arnoux-Lachaux Nuits St Georges 750ml

For decades Pascal Arnoux-Lachaux has been crafting impressive wines in the Côtes de Nuits, and since his son Charles took the reins in 2012, he has taken this estate to new heights! He is one of the most exciting young vignerons and 2013 was the first vintage where he has been in full control from budbreak to harvest. These wines have become harder and harder to come by, and even the village wines have been special under Charles’ tutelage. Thus, this decade-old tribute to Charles’ first vintage, the village Nuits-Saint-Georges which punches above its weight.

Starting in this vintage, only 10% new oak was used for the village wines. It was a late and labor-intensive harvest that yielded a very classic, textural wine with medium body, fine tannins, and an elegant, smooth mouthfeel. This is textbook Arnoux-Lachaux and while it will certainly age for many years, patience doesn’t need to be a virtue to drink this beauty!

2009 Taittinger Comtes De Champagne Rose 750ml

2009 Taittinger Comtes De Champagne Rose 750ml

We all know and love Taittinger, and Comtes de Champagne has long been a favorite for being THE marquee Blanc de Blancs Champagne. The Rosé doesn’t quite get the same attention, but it is unquestionably one of the finest Grand Marque Rosé Champagnes on the market today. 2009 is the less famous but far more approachable sibling to 2008 and is a standout. From the moment this beauty graces your glass, you know you are in for a treat.

The delicate, salmon-pink hue is a visual love letter to the senses. The aromas sing of wild strawberries with a hint of citrus and a bit of fresh-baked brioche. Like summer in a glass! The wine dances on the palate with finesse and grace, evoking red fruit with zesty acidity and a refreshing mineral note lingers on the creamy, silky textured finish that is like satin to the taste buds. It is long and elegant, leaving you yearning for an encore!
